Inspired by Catherine Ryan Hyde in her book of the same title (2000), the expression “Pay It Forward” describes the concept of a third party beneficiary in which a creditor offers the debtor the option to “repay” the debt by forwarding the payments to a third person instead of repaying the original creditor. Debt and payments can be monetary or can also be paid as good deeds (Wikipedia). Essentially, “Pay It Forward” is a self-perpetuating endowment that can be transferred to succeeding generations of IPL attendees.
For example, if someone helps you, instead of repaying those who helped you, you repay the debt by helping 3 other people. Similarly, these 3 people help other 9 people, then 9 to 27, etc. Perpetuating these good deeds will spread to many people and eventually to the entire society.
We hope that “Pay It Forward” will become a beautiful spiritual tradition of all IPL students. At present, the costs for their training are sponsored by current successful entrepreneurs. Then, after graduating from IPL and becoming successful entrepreneurs, IPL graduates are expected to “Pay It Forward” by sponsoring a future generation of students (with their own finance and/or with the finance they obtain from other sponsoring resources). The older assist the younger... the former generations support the succeeding generations. This is the spiritual tradition IPL expects to instill in future generations of students as well as the entire society.

With the hope of pushing connection among entrepreneurs and contributing more for Vietnamese entr preneurship community’s development; IPL has established a program e called “Connect trainees – entrepreneurs”. The program aims to connect trainees looking for a “right” job in corporate with entrepreneurs in needs of HR. This establishment is expected to bring more values to entrepreneurs and potential leaders.
Program’s overview:
The best candidates who successfully pass 5 rounds of recruitment (see attached appendix) will be selected to join this special training program in 9 months. The trainees, then, will move to “5-year-self-experience” stage in which they will work and gain experiences in corporate.
The trainees who accomplish 9 months of training and look for a “suitable” job will be introduced to corporate in needs of correlative demand of recruitment.
IPL plays the role of “a bridge” to connect entrepreneurs and IPLers, but not involve in further negotiation stage between them. It means that IPLers and entrepreneurs will negotiate conditions, responsibilities and benefits among themselves
The difference of “Connect trainees-entrepreneurs” program
The program requested from IPLers aims for bringing useful values for IPLers and entrepreneurs. The program DOESNOT require any finance and binding conditions among entities joining this.
IPLers who are considered as the best” seeds” has been delicately selected through 5 strict and challenging rounds.
These seeds are continuously raised up and developed with an international standardized 9-month-training program.
Five years of self-experience is not only the time when “the leadership seeds” can learn but also the time when “leadership talents” can put their contribution and create values for the corporate they are working for.

Dear Sir/Madam,
After more than a decade of reforming, Vietnam has seen dramatic social and economic changes which have been compared as “a dragon waking up after its winter sleep.” It has really been a long journey with significant milestones and with Vietnamese entrepreneurs having to put their every effort into global competition. That competition led to many significant changes, and also helped to establish an initial platform for Vietnamese entrepreneurs to strongly prosper and grow. However, Vietnamese entrepreneurs still lag behind others in this new international competition.
We are full of aspiration and potential. Yet we are still deficient in one vital area: our foundation of global knowledge. Our standing in the international business community has not reflected our potentials and strengths. As a nation, Vietnam had not been afforded the opportunity to fully participate in development of our sleeping spirit of entrepreneurship.
New opportunities lay ready for us to grasp. Here and now, we devote ourselves to preventing succeeding generations to remain mired in this way of the past. At IPL, we are determined; we devote our efforts to reversing this situation. This is the biggest common precept shared among all in our Board of Founding Members.
From this concept, the IPL project was born. The IPL project will gather the best young and outstanding people with leadership potential throughout the country and sponsor their participation in modern, high-quality international training programs, aiming to transform them from “potential leaders” to our “talented leaders” of the future, all at no charge to selected participants.
We hope that from this project, the first “Institute of Potential Leaders” of Vietnam will establish themselves as a new starting point for our aspirations and firmly position our country on the world’s up-and-coming educational map. This project will help develop a new land of plenty and prosperity from the many leadership seeds we will cultivate and harvest. We hope that this IPL will be established and supported not only by Vietnamese entrepreneurs and intellectuals, but also by the whole society. This is also the meaning of “Pay It Forward”
